Go for a real “two-beat feel” for the first chorus of After The Rain. Transitions into a solid straight-ahead four beat at the trombone chorus. Sometimes trombones have a tendency to “speak” late. Make sure the time is moving straight ahead. ... we’re not after “pretty” here. The voicing at measure 69 sounds good if everyone takes some deep breaths and blows! Bar 85 wants the trombones short and crisp, while saxes and trumpets are phrasing their lines. Nice and easy does it at bar 104. Build it up again at 108 for the ending.
