Where does the magic found in fantasy worlds come from? This power comes from among the stars; the astral plane. Written to represent mystical powers that are present in so many stories, this piece hopes to take you on a journey to the many battles fought between light and darkness using magic. Featuring legato bowing and slurs mixed with driving rhythms to keep the music moving forward, all instruments share the responsibility of carrying melodic material throughout the piece. Cellos have a soli section that leads into a lush textured retelling of their melody by the whole orchestra. First violins have a descant section in third position that is written to be an introduction to shifting.
