Four traditional songs, from China (Descendant of the Dragon), Japan (Sakura), Korea (Arirang), and Vietnam (Ly Cay Bong) comprise this unique medley. Not only does each section get its thematic moment, but the orchestra also imitates the sounds of traditional Asian instruments. All parts remain in first position, with several tempo and mood changes, from lyric and ethereal to a driving contrapuntal ending. Thorough editorial notes give the history of each song, performance suggestions, and background on the arranger.
