Miles Dewey Davis: trumpeter, composer, creator. Born in Illinois, he would grow up to be one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Not often do you find a Jazz musician inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Davis is an exception. His album “Kind of Blue” has received four platinum certifications from the Recording Industry of America since its release in 1959, and commemorated in its 50th anniversary by the House of Representatives, quote: “honoring the masterpiece, and reaffirming Jazz as a national treasure.” But Miles was more than Jazz; he helped develop new styles of Jazz, such as Bebop, Hard Bop, Jazz Fusion, and he redefined how people thought of Jazz.
